I rejected all five designs my AI made

Permission to use an effect isn't a brief for using it.

Five designs from my AI in one evening. I rejected all five.

I'd asked for a website with glass and glow, like a site I'd pointed to. That site turned out to have neither.

The first design came back as the default look of a thousand AI websites. A gradient headline. Blurry glowing orbs. Frosted glass cards. A grainy texture over everything. Four more followed, and none of them made it.

When my AI finally looked properly at the site I'd pointed to, it found dark, flat pages, one accent colour and lots of space.

It had read my brief as permission to use every effect at once. And the plain, dark design I already had was closer to right than any of the five. The mistake was leaving a disciplined design for a generic one.

It happened while I was building Quayutec.
Permission to use an effect isn't a brief for using it.

Describing what a reference actually looks like takes a minute.

Skipping that minute cost me five designs.
